Since 1997 the Phillips Partnership has leveraged and guided institutional investment to improve the long-term livability of the Phillips neighborhood in Minneapolis. The organization has set national precedents for strategic cooperation between the public and private sectors.
Strategy
Members of the Phillips Partnership have driven investments to neighborhood improvements as never before. But it is strategy that underwrites the Partnership’s vision – new solutions, deeper thinking, intensity of focus.
- Building bridges to solve issues that span public agency jurisdictions, traditional appropriations categories, and individual corporate interests.
- Diagnosing the underlying causes of urban problems and exploring systematic cures.
- Mustering resources that are available but have been unorganized.
- Putting the best strategic minds to work alongside the most knowledgeable and most personally invested people living and working in Phillips.
The Phillips Partnership approach was compiled in a presentation that highlights key statistics and outcomes woven into a broader story of how to address market failure through a public private partnership. A letter sent to the New York Times also highlights the neighborhood transformation.
